The interview begins with a review of family history followed by an account of the acquisition of the farm from the Iowa Railroad Land Company. Tiefenthaler describes relatives' immigration from Germany; farm chores and implements; threshing parties; courtship and social life and customs; and the effects of World War II on farmers and farming.
